Joyce G. Bigelow
Joyce Bigelow is an experienced trial attorney at Chesney & Nicholas, LLP.
She is responsible for all aspects of civil litigation in state and federal courts and concentrates her practice on elevator/escalator accidents, premises liability, construction / labor law, construction defects, medical, dental and pharmaceutical malpractice, municipal law, commercial litigation, products liability, automobile liability, assault, no fault, and property damage.
Joyce has successfully argued and won numerous appeals in the First and Second Departments of the Appellate Division, including obtaining the reversal of a trial court’s denial of a motion for a default judgment in a million dollar collections case.
Prior to joining Chesney & Nicholas, LLP, Joyce was a litigation associate with an insurance defense firm on Long Island and in Manhattan. Earlier in her career, she worked as a Judicial Intern for a New York City Housing Court Judge and a Connecticut Superior Court Family Law Judge.
Joyce received her Juris Doctor from the University of Bridgeport School of Law in 1991 and was an academic invitee to the Connecticut Probate Law Journal, where she held the prestigious position of Lead Articles Editor. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo in 1988.
