Gabriel D. Rivera
Gabriel D. Rivera is an Associate at Chesney, Nicholas, & Brower, LLP.
Gabriel is admitted to practice law in New York and the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He has experience in litigation in the New York State Courts with an emphasis on general negligence personal injury, and tenant defense.
Prior to joining Chesney, Nicholas, & Brower, LLP, Mr. Rivera interned for Brooklyn Legal Services Corporation A, the Hon. Richard Buchter, and the Queens County District Attorney’s Office. Furthermore, he represented clients facing consumer debt issues as a legal intern in the Consumer Justice for the Elderly: Litigation Clinic at St. John’s. These internships have provided him experience in Housing Court, Civil Court, Criminal Court, and Supreme Court.
Mr. Rivera received his Juris Doctor degree from St. John’s University School of Law in 2017. As a student he served as Corresponding Secretary for the Latin American Law Students Association, and President of the Criminal Law Society. Furthermore, he served as an Executive Articles and Notes Editor for the New York Real Property Law Journal.
Mr. Rivera earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of North Florida in 2013.
Mr. Rivera is community minded, and consistently volunteers his time to mentor youth. As President of MetroLALSA, a 501 (c)(3) not-for-profit organization, Mr. Rivera visited with numerous pipeline students, which consist of individuals of various cultural and educational backgrounds, to assist them in their path to fulfill their dreams of becoming attorneys. Additionally, he has been a debate coach to local high school students through Legal Outreach. Moreover, he has judged debate competitions of local middle school and high school students who are a part of the Young Debaters program.
